Rough Orange Calcite

Calcite is a sedimentary mineral and the main element of limestone. It ranges from clear to opaque, and is found in a variety of colors including honey, orange, red, and green. Calcite is detected within other rocks by applying hydrochloric acid, which causes it to bubble. Many invertebrate organisms use calcite to construct their shells and hard parts.
