Tumbled Hematite

Hematite is a dense mineral with a metallic luster and steel-gray color. The word ‘hema’ is the greek word for blood. Hematite leaves a reddish-brown mark in the streak test commonly used to identify minerals. It is used as a pigment and as a polishing powder, making it the most important iron ore.
